Fécamp: The Inner Harbor

Unlike traditional harbor pictures that direct the gaze to the open sea, Eugène Boudin chose the perspective from the quayside. The quay wall separates the sky from the water. This division emphasizes the reflections of the sky on the water. The use of pink, yellow, and light blue heralds the light-filled paintings of Impressionism.
