The sixth-generation of Kobei-kama, Katō Takuo (1917-2005) was fascinated by Persian pottery and focused on using blue glaze and creating Lusterware. For his dedicated work on sansai (three-colored glazing) technique after he was assigned by the Imperial Household Agency to restored sansai pieces in the Sōshō-in collection, he was designated a Living National Treasure in 1995.
