The panel, of a very high quality and dating to the beginning of the fourth decade of the 16th century, shows clear echoes of Raphael and of the Sodoma's Roman experiences in the tender, affectionate face of the Virgin, in the careful and in the limpid landscape. It was painted for a private devotion in a colloquial tone. The panel was stolen in 1970 and then recovered in France in 1992.
