This is one of the iconic photos of pilot Gail S Halvorsen during the Berlin Airlift. He is seated on his cot (which was located in a barn near the Rhein Main airbase. It was upstairs in the barn), tying Hershey bars to parachutes to prepare for a candy drop in Berlin. This photo is from 1948-49 and was likely taken with Halvorsen's own camera. (He loved photography)
