Galata Walls

In Melling’s panorama, it is clearly visible that the portion of the Genoese walls that surround Galata, which extend from Azapkapı to Şişhane, are still intact. The walls are hidden behind the dwellings, yet the square, crenellated bastions are stepped in proportion to the incline of the ground they rise from.
