The artistic production of Adriana Varejão comprises photography, sculpture, installation and, above all, painting in the most classical sense of this term, due to the utilization of materials and techniques characteristic of this historically noblest and most appreciated language of the arts. The works gathered here strongly represent Varejão’s diversity of interests and the various sources of her artistic research: abstraction, ruins, monuments, monochrome, violence; history, natural sciences and architecture. At the Inhotim pavilion, the artist’s production is presented in a unique manner, as both the order in which the works are presented and the architectural design itself have resulted from an intense dialogue between Varejão and architect Rodrigo Cerviño Lopez, who designed the building to house a combination of pre-existing pieces and other works meant to be executed in situ. Designed by Rodrigo Cerviño Lopez in collaboration with Adriana Varejão
