One of the wonders of the Vatican, the spectacular Gallery of Geographical Maps with the maps of Italy designed by the mathematician, geographer and cosmographer Ignazio (or Egnazio) Danti attracts the visitor's attention among the works of the Passaggetto, the subject of a recent and demanding restoration, which celebrate the pontificate of Urban VIII, in a position that allows you to admire the details. The view takes up a short stretch of the very long gallery towards the entrance wall with the emblems of the popes involved in the undertaking: the dragon of Gregory XIII, creator of the beautiful fun", and the bees of Urban VIII, architect of its restoration. Liguria, Italia nova and Civitavecchia are visible in sequence, with Genoa and Venice on either side of the gate from which the pontiff is about to to enter and enjoy the beauty of the gallery.
