Jean Paul Gaultier (b. 1952) is known for subverting the traditional fashion world, for example: showing undergarments as outerwear, utilizing sailor uniforms as evening wear, even using nontraditional models—such as elderly women or well-known porn stars—on his runway. Here, Gauliter created a completely reversible jacket. On the “correct” outer side, the jacket can pass as typical business wear. Reversed, its normally hidden interior of fine tailoring techniques and multiple luxurious linings are deemed a perfectly suitable exterior in Gaultier’s topsy-turvy world.
