Several ex-TSR employees founded game company Pacesetter Ltd. in 1984, partly due to their unhappiness at the direction TSR seemed to be headed. Though Pacesetter itself only endured for two years, its role-playing and board games found a huge following. Upon Pacesetter's demise, other firms purchased rights to publish some of its series. Pacesetter's Chill series focused on games that echoed horror film scenarios of the 20th century. Upon Pacesetter's demise, Mayfair purchased the rights to the Chill series and continued publication. Eventually Mayfair ended publishing Chill and the series went to Otherworld Creations. Today Chill is published by Growling Door Games, Inc.
