Several ex-TSR employees founded game company Pacesetter Ltd. in 1984, partly due to their unhappiness at the direction TSR seemed to be headed. Though Pacesetter itself only endured for two years, its role-playing and board games found a huge following. Upon Pacesetter's demise, other firms purchased rights to publish some of its series. The firm's space and fantasy series Star Ace featured interstellar and alien adventures.
