At some time during the height of early game manufacture, toy soldier sets and bowling games converged. Soon manufacturers produced sets of standing soldiers wiith rubber band-powered cannons, to knock, or "bowl," them over. Sets such as this proved very popular as printing methodology advanced and makers produced lifelike representations of various soldiers and their uniforms. McLoughlin Brothers produced this set, which includes printed "tents" to knock over, representing a troop of boy scouts. Many people understood scouting programs as training for military service, during the early days of scouting.
