Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. created Alvin and the Chipmunks (formerly The Three Chipmunks, or The Chipmunks) for a novelty record in 1958. The anthropomorphic chipmunk characters eventually made their way to the comics and then to a cartoon series. Their records became hits and the public recognized them. Bagdasarian collaborated with Hasbro in 1960 to create the board game "The Three Chipmunks Big Record Game." Hasbro produced two other Chipmunk-themed games as well. The characters endured and enjoyed revivals over the years, most recently live-action animated chipmunks starred in several full-feature films.
