Game Designers' Workshop (GDW) was a highly influential game publisher from 1973 to 1996. It specialized in boxed strategy games and war games with miniatures as well as role-playing games. After 1996, other game publishers took over publication of some of its more popular titles, many of which are still popular with fans. On average, GDW produced a new product every 22 days for 20 years. The company's eventual disbanding was attributed to both financial problems and employee burnout.
