W.S. Reed Toy Company's dexterity game, the "Gay Goblins Marble Game" lacks printed instructions. However, the 1895 toy is first assembled, so that the goblins are upright, over the scoring board below. It appears that players either dropped or tossed a marble into the hollowed-out hat of the upper goblin, which then pivots and drops the marble into a track and then into the hat of the lower goblin. The second figure pivots as well and eventually drops the marble onto the scoring area, which is marked with various point scores. Like many other Reed toys and games, this example is made of sturdy printed wood, with metal wire tracks for the marbles. Undoubtedly the pivoting action of the goblin figures contributed to this game's enjoyment.
