Sid Sackson (1920-2002) is considered by many one of the greatest game designers of all time. A civil engineer by training, he devoted his time, later in life, to playing, collecting, and designing games of all kinds. His financial game Acquire was among the first published in the famous 3M bookshelf game series, and it is still in publication. In 1978 when Parker Brothers developed a rudimentary gaming system with an electrified 9 x 9 playing grid, the firm hired Sackson to design some of the games which came with the system. He designed 7 of the 15 games originally available. A year later, he published two more games in "Games" magazine.
