The betting and racing game Pony Express is a two-part game designed by Alan R. Moon. Each player tries to gain control of 2 horses in the 7 horse field and then lead them to victory, but first they must win the right to control those horses. The second part of the game holds a race component where the owners now become jockeys and with the use of movement cards try to lead their horses to victory. Reviews on this early Alan Moon design are mixed. Many players object to the luck factor in the second round of play, others commend that part.
