The Wolverine Supply and Manufacturing Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania produced metal goods for household use beginning in 1903. The company soon expanded to include toys, especially sand-operated toys, and by 1918 was also producing metal tea sets for girls. The toys proved popular and Wolverine outlasted the Great Depression. In 1968 the original founders sold the company to another toy producer, who maintained many of the most popular toy lines for another twenty years.
