The game of quoits has many historical precedents but was recorded in England as early as 1388. Simply a ring tossed over a stick target, it is still popular among sporting clubs in England and the U.S. Traditionally an outdoor game, quoits was often made in smaller versions for indoor use. Milton Bradley's 'Steamer Quoits' is a good example of this. Rope is the material that makes up the throwing disk, which was traditional on ships.
