"Strategy & Tactics" gaming magazine began in 1967, and soon afterward its publishers decided to include a complete new strategy game with each issue. The magazine itself endured longer than any of its competitors and early issues as well as sets of the magazine are prized by collectors. Eventually the magazine's publisher, Simulations Publications, Inc. (SPI) published separate game modules as well.
