Founded in 1982, Victory Games was established by a core group of former SPI (Simulation Publications, Inc.) design employees. As a subsidiary of Avalon Hill, Victory Games published a series of games to considerable critical and commercial success from 1982 to 1991. With the gradual loss of key staff and the shift of many traditional gamers to video and computer games, Avalon Hill closed the company formally in 1989 although a few titles continued in production through the next two years.
