he Tinkertoss game represents a novel product of the Toy Tinkers company, original makers of Tinkertoy building sets. The company, founded by Charles Pajeau and Robert Petit, began making its Tinkertoys in 1914; other toys followed in ensuing years including dolls, rattles, building blocks, and flying toys. The company also offered a variety of games like Tinkertoss, a tossing game in which players pass to each other two balls connected together by a string by using a foil or wooden rod. Promotional copy for the game hyped: "Tinker Toss: For out door fun, it is the Boss!"
