Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi had the greatest admiration for each other, though - like true argumentative Indians - they differed and debated on many points. This rare photograph, signed personally by Tagore, shows him with Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi in Santiniketan in April 1940, when Tagore, despite his failing health, invited Gandhi to visit Santiniketan, and the Mahatma responded enthusiastically.
