A reference to the Ray of Light in the Sanctuary is the shadows cast by the courtyard walls at 11.00am on Remembrance Day. It aligns perfectly with the juncture of the light and dark concrete paving symbolising transition from war to peace. The wharf decking symbolises embarkation, journey and transition: the departures and arrivals that were usually the ports and jetties.
