A ceramic garden ornament of a rabbit made by Sybil Phoenix OBE. Cemented in place in her garden, south London. This photograph was taken as part of the Garden Museum's Caribbean Garden Heritage project funded by NLHF in 2021. The project seeks to collect oral histories from people of Caribbean descent and the Windrush generation recording stories about gardening in the Caribbean and in south London. The oral histories will be stored in the museum's Archive. Woodrow Phoenix, Sybil Phoenix' son was interviewed about his mother who was born in Guyana. She was the first black woman to be awarded the MBE, in 1973 for her services to the community.
