Gardentopia Day

Today, more than ever, it is thought that the future of urban centres passes from the green spaces which are no longer considered as a simple ornament within the urban fabric, but as necessary traits for the city to be truly livable.
"Gardentopia" is a project which reaches out to all citizens and aims to transform abandoned areas into flowerbeds, gardens and allotments accessible to all. Coordinated by the artistic curator Pelin Tan, international artists and landscape architects will work side by side with the community who live in such areas every day.
Workshops, talks and events on different topics will be held in the gardens of Matera and across Lucania during the "Gardentopia days". The project hopes to raise awareness and should encourage citizens to be an integral part of the ambitious urban regeneration process.
