Renaissance and Reformation. German Art in the Age of Dürer and Cranach
This set of a rapier and dagger with solid-gold, colorfully enameled hilts and mounts was a gift from Duke Albrecht V of Bavaria to Elector Augustus of Saxony. This set entered the electoral Rüstkammer between 1562 and 1567. The outstanding goldsmith work has clear parallels to contemporary jewelry and to masterpieces of the art of the goldsmith from Munich and Augsburg.
