Gazi Khan Harwa is an iconic Manganiyar singer living in the Harwa village of Sheo tehsil in Barmer. For overy forty years, he has popularised Rajasthani folk music throughout the world. He has worked in the famous film,'Latcho Drom' by Tony Gatlif and his unique rendition of 'Nimbura' has been adopted and popularised widely in Bollywood.

- About the craft: Manganiyars are hereditary communities of traditional folk musicians living mostly in the Barmer and Jaisalmer districts of western Rajasthan. Their music has survived decades owing to the Jajmani system which is fundamental to their art form and also a source of livelihood. The repertoire of Manganiyar music covers qawwali, sufi songs, bhajans and songs on life cycle, rituals, festivals. The community's identity instrument is the Kamaicha.
