Ge was one of the five main kinds of weapons in China. They were usually made of bronze or iron and attached to a long shaft when used.

This Ge was found on the east to the main coffin. It is rather small as a Ge and on it there are six characters carved and inlaid with gold: “Zeng Hou Yi Zhi Qin Ge (the Ge of Marquis Yi)”. Such inscription proves the tomb owener to the Marquis Yi of the Zeng State. This weapon was probably used by the guards of the marquis’ sleeping chamber.
