Agustí Penadés López (1933) He moved to Catalonia when he was 20. His interest in art began in 1966 after working in industry, and in 1976 he became a professional artist. He is the author of great pictures, drawings, sculptures, among other works. A multi-disciplinary artist, Agustí Penadés finds in sculpture and painting two ways of transforming material, where he is confronted by the basic and existential needs of the artist’s creative universe. Incorporating it, dragging it and manipulating it through the gesture and space it occupies gives it form in all possible directions and produces an informal and conceptual topography of the landscapes of his mind. A pure and visceral work which recovers the universal meaning of contact between human beings and primary earth, where paint, iron, coal and wood, among others, are linguistic allies of the artist’s significant message to the world. 20th Julio Antonio Sculpture Award, 1978 Art Biennial.
