The Genealogical Tree traces the lineage of Nawab Sultan Jahan Begum to the Founder of the Bhopal state. Interestingly, the period between 1819 - 1926 was marked by the rule of four consecutive women. When women were denied the basic right to education, the dispensation to rule was indeed an anomaly. It is said that when Qudsia Begum ascended the throne in 1819 after the assassination of her husband, none dared oppose her. Nawab Sultan Jahan Begum, thus, came from a long line of powerful women who refused to conform.
