General Electric company engineers inspect an advanced model jet engine, the J47-GE-27 which the company is producing for the Air Force. The engine has a thrust rating in excess of 5,800 pounds, about 10 percent more driving force than the GE power plants in North America F-86 Sabrejets now flying in Korea. It will power the F-86F. A similar engine with the same advanced power rating will power the Navy's swept-wing fighter, the North American FJ-2 Fury.
