George Enescu

Enescu (1881-1955) is regarded as the greatest Romanian composer of all time. A child prodigy, he began composing at age seven, and was the youngest person ever admitted to the Vienna Conservatory. He went on to write hundreds of works, many of them based on Romanian folklore. He was also a violinist and acclaimed teacher. His image is on Romanian currency.
