Georgina Brackenbury was daughter of Hilda and sister to Marie Brackenbury and all were prominent Suffragette campaigners. Georgina joined the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) in 1907 and was arrested in 1908 for her part in a demonstration outside the House of Commons. After her release Georgina spoke publically of her experiences and toured Germany giving speeches to interested groups on the subject of women’s suffrage. In 1912 she was imprisoned again for her part in the window smashing campaign.
Georgina & Marie also had a brother Richard who emigrated to Wyoming, USA in the 1880s. He married and had 5 sons and retired to La Jolla, California.
