Gertrude Hoffmann was a world-famous entertainer and one of the first female dance directors and choreographers in Vaudeville and Broadway. Hoffmann enjoyed motorcycling, and in 1920 she purchased a J Twin cylinder model motorcycle and sidecar from C. H. Lang, the first Harley-Davidson® dealer. The photo on this postcard was taken outside Lang's Chicago dealership: Hoffmann is in the sidecar and Lang is at the far right.
