This statue shows Buddha just after being born, raising his right hand after making seven steps forward. It appears to be declaring ‘The Sole Existence under the Sky’. The Buddha is standing up on a pedestal pointing its right hand to the sky and the left hand to the ground. It is dressed only in a skirt with a strap knot at the waist. The pedestal is round, facing both upwards and downwards, and is carved with lotus patterns. It is stuck onto another pedestal which seems to have been made a later time, and it forms a very specific shape. The statue is a source of great importance as the sole Birth Statue of Buddha in our country with this specific style of seat. It is believed to be a work of the 6th century.
