This print is part of Yoshitoshi's famous series "100 Aspects of the Moon" which depicts scenes from traditional Chinese and Japanese history and lore. A scene from the Kabuki play "Chushingura". The young Oishi Rikiya delievers a letter to his father Oishi Yuranosuke at the Ichiriki Teahouse in Kyoto. Yuranosuke is planning a secret vendetta against the 47 Ronin to avenge his master's death.
