"Copy of the sculpture entitled “The little gipsy” with which Joan Rebull (Reus, 1899 – Barcelona, 1981) won the Carlemany award in 1938.
The copy was done in 1954, chiselled and with polychrome eyes it is signed, dated and dedicated by the author to M. D. Jesús Pérez Rosales.
Joan Rebull was a member of the Evolutionist group. Rebull tried to reflect in his works the formal simplification of the archaic sculpture, mainly Egyptian, different from Noucentist sculptors that based their Mediterranian style on the Greek classicism."
