The marble is at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan.
The face expresses volition and a strong character.
Canova offered the Milan Honours Committee for Giuseppe Bossi the bust and sixty sequins. They refused however, since the money necessary for the cenotaph (where the bust was to be placed) had already been collected.
