Zaragoza, Spain

A ceramic container used for storing and preserving honey, as its name suggests. This piece was made at the Manises ceramics workshops in Valencia in the 18th century. It is a tall, narrow ceramic container in a tube shape, with a slight convex curve in the middle. This tin-glazed piece is decorated with a metallic painted design featuring curved spirals and bean-shaped motifs. This technique is influenced by Islamic ceramics and is characteristic of items produced in Manises.
