Glen Echo Park, Maryland Glen Echo Park, Maryland

Clara Barton National Historic Site, National Park Service

Clara Barton National Historic Site, National Park Service

This postcard shows Clara Barton’s Glen Echo home with rollercoaster tracks. The rollercoaster screeched by her window and a Ferris wheel was located at the side of the house. Park owners wanted to pressure Barton out of the house so they could turn it into a hotel. She was happy to see the manager replaced. A handwritten note signed by Miss Barton on the postcard thanks friends for their letters and friendship.
