Palermo, Italy

The protagonist of the painting is an elegant young lady, of Chilean origin, belonging to the international high society, Miss Emiliana Concha De Ossa. Boldini painted her on several occasions; she was his ‘muse’. He defined her as “a young girl of eighteen as beautiful as a love story”.
With very brisk colour brushstrokes, the artist sketches a vibrant image of a woman, who was a symbol of Parisian life and modernity and the perfect interpreter of the surroundings and atmosphere of that fascinating and opulent period of crisis and transition in the evanescent rendering of her silhouette.
