With its elaborate rococo decoration featuring baskets of flowers and a bird, this goblet is a fine example of mid-18th-century European glass. Its exact origin is difficult to determine. Although the form and general character of the engraved and cut ornament are in the Bohemian taste, the faceted stem with three bulbs relates to examples from eastern Germany, and the cutting at the base of the bowl is sometimes seen on Russian work.
