  • Artist Biography: Frans Francken III, known in older literature "Francken the Rubensian", was a pupil of his father, Frans Francken II. Recognized as a master in 1639/40, he becomes the dean of the painters' guild in Antwerp (1656-1657). In general, he was imitating his father's manner, especially in scenes with small figures, but he was strongly influenced by Peter Paul Rubens's style and colors. Notable fact, some of his works are signed autographs either directly with his father's name or with other names.
