The J. Paul Getty Museum
Los Angeles, United States

Gold band mosaic glass flask vertically assembled from serpentine lengths of canes: a colorless glass encasing gold leaf backed by golden brown, a clear turquoise backed by opaque yellow (to make green) and outlined with an opaque white, and a dark blue glass backed by darker brown (to make a darker blue) outlined with opaque white. The gold snakes around the blue successively, the green being limited to the opper registers and blue to the lower. This pattern is repeated three times. Cast in a mold, then the body cold worked on a rotary lathe.
