Bangkok, Thailand

In the twentieth century, these nielloware items were no longer a symbol of status, but rather represented a modern celebration of Thai traditions. Thus, they were favored gifts of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, who presented these items during state visits with U.S. presidents and first ladies.
