Gold plate for earrings

These objects appear to be fragments of gold meant to be used to fabricate earrings. They indicate that gold may have been shipped from its source in Sumatra in a semi-finished state. The Javanese goldsmiths may have ordered these to be left plain, so that they could work them by repoussé to their own designs.
