Estelle says: "When I was contacted to do this piece there was just no way I could refuse. The photo captured a moment in time and they both had such an intense expression, my task was to capture it. The interaction from Hayley all the way through was brilliant, she loved receiving timelapse videos and progress photos. This initiative gave me purpose as an artist in what was a very unsettling time."
Hayley says: "...My husband... is an Emergency Medical Technician for East Midlands Ambulance Service where he has done 15 years service. He is doing 12 hour shifts and going into peoples houses not knowing if they have Covid-19 or not. He is doing all he can to protect himself at work and not bring the virus home to us. I took this photo of my husband saying goodnight to our 1 year old baby before he left for a night shift. For me it’s very emotive with the way our son is looking up at him like his dad is his Hero and he looking down like the protector - Off to War to fight this invisible battle.
You have captured them both brilliantly, it's like a photo. I think Neil will cry when he sees it. I think it will hang in our hallway for everyone to see. It will be treasured forever."
