"La Granadina was one of the first works Santiago Rusiñol (Barcelona, 1861 - Aranjuez, 1931) painted during his second trip to Granada, where he arrived in October 1895. It is one of the most important paintings included in Santiago Rusiñol’s artistic production.
This large work depicts a gypsy from the Sacromonte neighbourhood, in Granada. She is standing gravely with a serious expression on her face and her eyes have a faraway, dreamy look. The woman is leaning sideways against a white wall, where there is a window that opens onto a background of vegetation. The row of cypress trees stands out in the distance."
