There are over 100 species of Graphium butterflies, also known as Swordtails or Knife swallowtails. They live in Eurasia, Africa and Oceania, and are found in habitats ranging from rainforests to open savannah. Many Graphium species perform a type of feeding known as mud-puddling, gaining their nutrition from moist soils and rotting plant matter, and sometimes even carrion!
