Toronto, Canada

This is a monument to a young Roman boy, M. Carlienius Venustus, who lived only eight years and ten months. A portrait of him is carved within the arched niche near the top. His hairstyle, with a thick lock brushed over the forehead, helps to date the monument to the late Flavian / early Trajanic period at the end of the 1st century AD.
